BRAKES FOR TRUCKS.

Sib,— Kindly allot me a small space to reply to “Observer No. 2,” whoso remarks regarding brakes for trucks appeared in your last night’s issue. Observer No. 1 has given a correct description of the brake in question which is an original idea of Mr Butler’s, and lam prepared to assert that it has never been used on the Blackball tramway or any other tramway on the West Coast during the past three years. Moreover the brake “Observer” referred to is not a horizontal sliding brake, but is operated by a strong spring. Thanking you in anticipation. I am,, —
