MR GUINNESS AND HIS CONSTITUENTS.
(To the Editor.)
g lß) —Kindly allow me space to thank you for inserting my letter of the 19th inst and for the information contained in your footnote. At the same time we do not agree with your explanation, because though Mr Guinness has been acting Speaker he has been paid for it. and we do not think that his constituents should be neglected. If the business of the speaker is so great why should he not have a Secretary. It seems very unfair that our interest should be neglected, but perhaps Mr Guinness may be able to explain for himself.—Yours etc., W. Barbow. Nelson Creek, November 20.
[The circumstances were of an extraordinary character owing to the illnea of Sir Maurice O’Rorke, matters became disarranged, anJ Mr Guinness had to bear the whole burden— Ed. E.S.]
