OUR BLACKBALL LETTER.

Inspector Fetch conducted his annual examination of the pupils of the Blackball State School last Thursday week.
On Saturday Mr and Mrs James Leitch returned from their trip to the Old Country. It must be pleasing to their friends to see how well they are both looking. The trip seems to have made a new man of Mr Leitch (“ Old Jimmy ” is more appropriate), giving him quite a new lease of life. A very cordial welcome was given them by all the residents.
This last week or so more dissatisfaction than ever has been expressed with regard to the working of the punt; and, at a meeting of the Improvement Committee held last] Saturday, the following resolution was carried : “ That the Secretary write and nrge upon the County Council the desirability of working the punt under the County’s own control.” It must be very pleasing to the Sports Committee to find how well the liberal programme issued by them has been supported by competitors. Forty-five nominations have been received for only four events. The other events competitors will please note, by advertisement in another column, do not close until 12 noon on the day of the races, November 30th.
