GOLD DREDGING.
Prince of Wales— A Urge quantity of machinery for the Prince of Wales G. D. Co, is expected to arrive next week. Kohinoor —The work of erecting the machinery on the Kohinoor company’s dredge is progressing satisfactorily, and a very few weeks should see active operations commenced. Pactolus Company v. Anderson —The Christchurch Press is informed that the judgment in the Warden’s Court at Eeefton is subject to the decision of the Appeal Court, upon certain legal points reserved by the Warden for the opinion of the Appeal Court. Other legal questions have arisen in the case involving not only the amount of damage, but the tight of the plaintiff company to sue for any compensation whatever. Messrs Anderson’s legal advisers have received instructions to take steps to bring the whole case before the Court of Appeal at the next sittings.
Leviathan Freehold pontoon’s building contract has been extended to Nov. 30th at Bp. m. Full particulars may be obtained from Messrs Cutlea Bros, the eompanys engineers.
Bignells No Town—Wo understand that negotiations for the re purchasing of the Bignells No Town claim, which was sold under distress warrent some time ago havo been brought to a successful issue and work will bo ro-oommsnoed again within a short period.
Trafalgar —There is a little friction at present between the contractors for the machinery and the company. So far as wo can learn the contractors are being treated a bit badly. Maori Gully dredge should commence operations in about three weeks. Mr Diamond, formerly of Ford’s Creek dredge and Mr Todd, late of Marsden No 1 and Buller dredges have be appointed to posts of drodgemastor and engineer respectively!
Buller Junction— For the Buller Junction return of 52ozs lOdwts for 135 hours, wo are indebted to Mr P. N. Kings - well of Reefton. This is her record. The dredge had a steady run during the week in a nice sample of wash.
Orwell Cheek and Erickson —Both had a break down the other day but are again at work. The former will not wash up for a week.
Watteuson’s Consols —The machinery is not to be erected on the Watterson’a Consuls dredge where she is at present lying. It is all to bo removed to the Company’s own ground, owing to the difficulty that would bo experienced in removing the dredge from its present position, when its machinery was erected,
