Bendigo is en fete for the • opeping of the Gold Jubilee Exhibition. The town is gaily decorated, and crowded. Lord Hopetown performed the opening ceremony, and in an interesting speech traced the history cf£ the gold in dustry. Messrs Barton and Peacock made speeches. The exhibition is splendidly organised, every feature of mining from the old fashioned cradle used at the time of the discovery to the most modern machinery, is illustrated. Several other sections are devoted to arts, science, general industries, and naval and military exhibits.
