MAORI CREEK GROWL.
(To the Editor.)
Sir.—ln your paper of the 6th, a cripple does a Dung-mville growl because two old men get two or three days’ work, and the County Council won’t call tenders for gravelling our steets. The street he mentions is about two chains long. Now would ho like the C.C. to advertise this street, say for a fortnight .to lot on contract (good thing for the papers Mr Editor). All tenderers to deposit £5. Close the road and block all traffic. Then send up the Engineer to pass it, when finished, etc. lam afraid your correspondent of the 6th would want a good price as it could not bo divided into‘?two separate contracts, and it would be rather much responsibility to have two chains to do all at once ; seeing there is so much wet weather an extension of time would bo necessary.
