An Assault Committed in Opan Court. Auckland, This Day. Wh*ile the case of W. G. Garrard v J. Driscoll, each seeking to bind the other over to keep the peace was being heard, Dr Laishley, solicitor for defendant, took exception to the way in which Garrard was examining his wife. Garrard, who was at the lawyer's table, seized him by the throat and shouted " Don't you call me a scoundrel" and pushed him to the floor. Lii-diley got up smiling and remarked " This will show you what kind of a man he is," and the case went on as though nothing had happened.
