[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION COPYRIGHT.]

Beceived this day at 10 20 a.m. Sydney, This Day. The Telegraph savs that the Federal Ministry can claim no more than that they have been given a ticket of leave

during good behaviour or till their policy goes up for trial at the next elections. No doubt,- if the tariff passes and becomes law, everything like present State life will bo unspared beyond election. The Herald says the division represents a clearage of the House on the fiscal and not the original constitution on the Federal question. Victoria dominates in the situation here. The Protectionists votes carried out the Federal tariff.

Eeceived this day at 9 30 a.m. Melbourne. This Day,

Ten members paired for the censure motion, every vote being accounted for. The -whole labor party, excepting Hughes and another member, vomd with the Government. The Kanaka Bill, being a' strong factor, is the party’s case. Hughes says, on the slightest possible chance, lie will move in committee to refer the tariff to the people. The claims have the solid support of the Labor Party and Opposition, Eeid claims if all members favoring free trade voted according to their convictions, the Government would have had a majority of only one.
