THE COBDEN LIBRARY.
(To tho Editor.)
Sib, —l was pleased to see such a good report in the paper of the concert and dance hold in the Cobden School and the large figures for prizes for the school children. Is it because there is fresh blood in the Committe ? If so I think it is time we had some more,. What has become of the Cobden Library Committee ? Are they all dead or are they gone to South Africa ? If so did they take their balance sheet with them and the funds that they had obtained from their concerts? If any of them are left why not put their shoulder to the wheel and come forwards like true Britons, and if they have not pluck enough let them borrow the School Committee and they will put them through and help them. It is time something was done in the matter. The Government granted £SOO for public libraries. Did the Committee apply for their share ? If not it is time they chuckedjthc sponge for it won’t come to them and let some one else take it up. m-J am, etc,,
