GENERAL HECTOR MACDONALD’S TOUR.

Wellington This Day.

General Hector MacDonald arrived by the Mararoa at noon and was enthusiastically received by a large assemblage, including representatives of the Governor and Government (Ward) and Local Bodies. Government and other offices were closed for a couple of hours and shipping decorated. An address was presented to the General on behalf of the city, to which ho made a brief reply expressing his appreciation of the exceedingly hearty receptions given him hero and throughout the colony. Ho was then driven through cheering crowds to Government House where ho will stay while in Wellington.
