A REEFTON COMPLAINT.

{To the Editor.)

Sin, —I would like to call your attention to the manner in which certain Justices of the Peace deal with obscene language cases in Keefton. Now, sir, no later than yesterday a person was charged with using very filthy language in the main street within the hearing of hundreds of passers-by. He was fined £2. Six months ago I was locked up for being drunk. The police started to knock me about and went so far as to spit in my face ; and for simply calling them dirty dogs they gave me three months without the option of a fine. They had no charge against me only what had happened in the lock-up. This is only one case out of many of Jhe kind where working men are 'severely famished and toils let off almost scott ree. There are a certain class in this town that go from one hotel to another using bad language and no notice taken of them. There are hundreds of working men here that would like to sec a stop put to this kind of justice. Hoping you will call public attention to the matter. —I am, etc.,

W. Tibkney
