The Commissioner of Customs intends introducing a bill providing for export duty of from three to five shilling per 100 superficial feet on New Zealand white pine and kauri baulk timber, and fletchos size of flotches yet to bo determined. The idea is to prevent loss of labor in this eclony in the manufacture of our timber into butter boxes.
