STEEN-SMITH VARIETY COMPANY.

The Company open at the Opera House on Wednesday evening for a season of three night only. The Company is known throughout New Zealand as being the best of the kind that has ever toured the colony. They bring with them " Nicola," the only lady magician that has ever toured Australia or New Zealand before, one of the features of her act being the celebrated illusion "Gone," which caused such a sensation in Sydney lately. Mr Sheldon Kindley as a ventriloquist is famed throughout the world, and throws open a challenge to any other ventriloquist for £IOO for the quickness in changing from one voice to another. Miss Maggie Steen in her coon songs and dances is always a big favorite, and the " Devoes" in their operatic sketches bring with them a well-earned reputation. Charlie Herbert, previous to joining Steen-Smith, travelled with the famous ".Robertson American Company" as comedian for five years, and since he had been in New Zealand he has nude a name for himself not likely to be forgotten. Miss Lillie Smith is possessed of a pretty voiee, which is a boon to a serio comic and dancer, her first skipping rope dance being one of the most novel acts ever exhibited on the variety stage in New Zealand before. Mr "Will Siddall is one of the youngest baritone vocalists touring the colony; his greatest success being "The Shade of the Palm." Alto- ( getlier this is the strongest combination that has visited Greymouth, and we feel safe in predicting a attendance at the Opera House during the season.
