GOLD DREDGING.
We are indebted to Mr P. N. Kingswell for tho'Buller Junction return which is 21ozs 16.1 wt for 76 houes. The dredge was dclayod for a considerable time through flood. Had full tims bsen worked about 45ozs would have boon obtained.
Tho new tumbler for tho Pactolus Company's dredge went up yosterday, and it was expected that tho dredge would commence work again to-day. The Ahaura dredge was also expected to commence work again to-daj, the dredge his been undergoing repairs since last Monday. She will not wash up till probably to-morrow week. The Grey River will wash up to-day for seven day's work. The return should be a slight improvement on last week. A press cable from Sydney says "The Mount Lycll returns from September 10 to October 10 arc —24,3(11 tons of ore were treated, together with 0,5(53 tons of purchased ore. The converters provided 810 tons of blister copper, containing copper SOOtons, silver 40,112 ounces, gold 1510 ounces " Tho Greenstone Three Mile is not expected to givo any return this woek as a portion of the dam buiid to refloat tho the vessel was carried away on Tuesday. Itnpairs were expected to bo completed and a start made yesterday afternoon. In any case ir. will take the rest of the week to open up t new face. Tho Greenstone Creek is expected to slightly exceed last weeks return. The ground is deepening as tho dredge advances up (lie creek and a gradual improvement is evident.
i Greenstono Junction should show a substantial improvement. Tha nature of the ground continues vjry much the same, excepting towards the. creek bed where it is very rough on the bottom. I A meeting of shoreholdors in the Greenstone Gold Dredging Company was held lust night at Mr Byrne's office. A large number of shareholders attended. • It was decided to ask the directors to call an extraordinary rneoting to consider the position of tho Company with a view to having tho management removed to tho, Coast. That the capital bo reduced from ; £9OOO to £BOOO and that the shareholders receive 5,000 paid, up shares and the remaining 3,000 be £1 to bo offered to tho public.
