The weather was thicitening for the first day of the M. E. C. meeting, nevertheless the attendance was good. The results are:—
Hurdles—Ashleaf 1, Pensioner 2, Bandsman 2. Time, 5 28. Divs, £lO 2s and £5 Is.
Maiden Hack Eace —Pure Silver 1, Hurleblast 2, Greensward 3. Time, 1181. Divs, £2 4s and £1 2s.
Blenheim Handicap—Hinekoa 1, Ruamahunga 2, Waterford 3. Time, 1 50. Divs, £4 18s and £2 9s.
Electric—Stage Whisper and Pure Silver a dead heat, Sir Eedvers 3.- Time, 1 31. Divs, £1 12s and £1 2s. Trot—Jewess II 1, Harrowtime 2, Iris 3. Time, 4 30. Divs, £lO5 6s and £52 13s.
Flying—Waituru 1, Eight Metal 2, Waterford 3. Time, 1 191. Divs, £3 14s and £1 18s.
Welter—Hinekoa 1, The Pearler 2, Ashleaf 3. Time, 1 35. Divs, £1 16s 18s. £2 315 went through the tote.

There is again fine weather and a good attendance fos the second day’s races. The following results are to hand : Hack Hurdles—Ashleaf 1, Bandsman 5, Pensioner 3. Divs £2 ICs and £1 Bs. Trial Hack—lxia 1, All Gay 2, Pure Silver 3. Divs £3 12 and £1 16s.
Eiccarton Training Notes. Cheistchctech, This Day. At Eiccarton this morning matters were quiet several Cup candidates and others being away at the Ashburton races.
Glonogle easily beat Goldenmere and Zscultqver six furlongs in 1 171. Glcnaladale and Wind whistle were extended over a mile and a half. Glenaladale finishing in front in 2 42. It was a good gallop. Fulmen and Djin Djin jumped off at the mile and a half post and ofter going two furlongs were joined by Canteen. The pace then increased and at the finish Djin Djin was leading Cantesn while Fulmen, who did not gallop generously, was two lengths off Dj.n Djin. The time was 2 4C. Fulmen had the worst of the weights. Dundas slipped over six furlongs coni' fortably in 1 17 1-5, and Bombado half-a-milc in 51. Blazer was too good for Goldspur at the end of five furlongs run in 1 5. Sarchedon defeated Battle Cry over four furlongs in 49secs. The others to do useful tasks were Somerled, Cannie Clrel, First Light, Calibre, Battler, Savannah, Hermosa, Tercelet, Golden Vein and Dundee. The Karamu Team and Kahuwai were out, but were not extended. Ideal looks very well.

Melbourne Training Notes. Melbourne, This Day. Paul Pry ran ten furlongs in 2 20, Gauleon beat Rock Gun and Acetime oyer nine furlongs in 2 5. Ibex half-a-mile in 55A secs. Hautvillers and The Bride ten furlongs in 2 12. Haymaker and Gazelle a mile in 1 53. Lord Rodolph beat San Fran and Grasspan over ten furlongs in 2 21. Carbineer ten furlongs in 2 26. Australian Colors and Miltiades fifteen furlongs in 3 40.\. Betting on the Derby—Grasspan is in demand now at 2to 1; Hautvilliers is still favorite at 6 to 4. For the Cup Haymaker has been backed at £3,000 and is now 16 to 1, 1,000 to 120 was taken about Wakeful; 1,000 to 100 Hymettus ; 10 to 1 Australian Colors ; and 14 to 1 San Fran. The Ishburton Races. Ashburton, Tins Day. Despite the disagreeable nor’-wester, there is a good attendance. LAGHMOE HANDICAP. Whirlwind 1 Euawai .... ... ... 2 Rye ... ... ... ... 3 . Dividends, 12 6s and £3 4s.
