SIR HECTOR M'DONALD.
[per press association.]
Invercargill, October 23,
Sir Hector M'Donald has had a trying day in Invercargill, the peoples’ only complaint being that they could not see enough of him.
Large numbers of Highland people came in frem the country, and on every appearance in public, the General was heartily cheered.
This evening a reception was arranged and many were introduced to Sir Hector whose quiet, manly demeanor and patient courtesy in a heavy ordeal were fully appreciated. At a banquet which followed and is now in progress, there is a large gathering. The toast list is inordinately long and looks as if the function will not terminate till 2 a.m. to-morrow.
The General will visit the town schools and it is probable that he will after all visit Lakp Wakatipu before going north,
