TRINITY CHURCH GREYMOUTH.

A large number of Chinese are at present in Town on account of their Festival of the Dead which is now being held. Nearly three hundred attended a special service held yesterday afternoon in,Trinity Church. Mr Daniel Wong, the Cbine?e Catechist, officiating. The Vicar, in welcoming'the Chinese, said that God had made of one, every nation of man to dwell on the face of the earth, and the accident of birth nationality and colour, did not ranke them any the less 1 brothers.’ Mr Wong was there to tell them of the love of the Great Father and the good news regarding the !-aviour of mankind. The Vicar also extended a cordial greeting to Mr Wong who reonitly returned from Melbourne, and was no entering anew upon his ministry amongst his countrymen on the West Coast and in Wellington.

Mr "Wong then gave an earnest address to the Chinese who appeared to listen with rapt attention to his exposition of the Gospel. Yesterday, being the day set apart for Free Will Offerings at Trinity Church, there were good congregations and a very liberal response was made to the appeal for funds. The principle of direct giving for religious and charitable purposes which obtains in Trinity Church, is much preferable to raising funds by bazaars, lotteries, sales of work, etc. The churchwardens desire to express their thanks to all who have so generously contributed.
