Wellington, This Day. A leading native firm of manufacturers in Japan "has written to Wellington merchants stating they are prepared to purchase regular shipments of wool, flax, hides, certain kinds of timber, and other products from New Zealand at current rates.

The firm propose to send two or three agents to the colony to arrange matters, but it .is afraid that restrictions will be placed upon the visit by the Premier. Each agent will be required to pay a poll-tax £IOO on the entering colony, but amount will bo refunded on the termination of the visit,
