Christchurch, until SATUEDaY, the 26th October next, for the conveyance of mails by four horse coach between Springfield and Kumara for a period of three years and also four years, from the Ist January, 1902. As this mail-route may bo shortened by railway extension, the PostmasterGeneral may terminate the contract on giving one monih's previous notice in writing, or may reduce the subsidy in proportion to the number of miles the service may be shortened by the length of railway opened or extended.
