HERBERT EASTON’S PETITION.
We understand the report on Mr Herbert Easton’s petition in connection with the gold dredging industry will shortly be brought before Parliament, and inasmuch as it is generally admitted the decision of the Government will to a very large extent restore the confidence of the public and those in England and elsewhere who recognise gold dredging in New Zealand (when reasonable protected) as a legitimate investment. We hope the member for this constituency will give the subject his careful consideration. Mr Easton will be returning to London as soon as the- result is knowm, and he has been asked to preside at some public meetings, to bo convened by some gentlemen who are of opinion that given fair protection against fraud gold dredging, although now under a cloud, has a grand, future ahead.
