Commandant Botha has retreated into some difficult country parallel to the Swaziland western frontier, until finding that the British barred the trek to the north, he halted near Luneberg, northward of Yryheid, on the 10th, despatching columns to , occupy Pengola Bosch, where the stock and Boers are in a difficult situation with their horses fatigued and with the British forces on the north and south-east. There are ind ications that Botha will retire in the direction of Elandsberg. Grobelaar, Commandant of the Vryheid commando, who is escorting women, and the transport, has left for the Ngomi llaUge. '
A detachment of Westralians, New Zealanders and Queenslanders belonging to Walter Kitchener’s command captured 50 cattle, 7 wagons, a quantity of food stuffs, and 4 prisoners. The Natal Volunteers have been relieved from duty, and received Lord Kitchener's thanks.
Schoemau, one of Letter’s lieutenants, has been sentenced to death.
Scheepers, who recently captured two British coloured scouts, forced them to draw lots and shot the one who drew the shortest straw and sent the other back to inform the British.
