Mr Seddon moved the second realing of the Royal Visit Expenses Bill to provide for tno repayment of £2250 to tha Governor in connection with tha Royal visit. He said the Governor had acted as host for the Colony and this repayment would not by any means covor all the persona! 1 expenses ho had been put to. Considerable debate ensued, during which Messrs Hornsby, Fisher. Piranj, Barclay, and others opposed tho Bill, Sir Joseph Ward deprecated this section of the House cavilling at this comparatively small expenditure, and laid’ tha whole of the £70,000 expended by the Government in coanecdort with the Royal visit had been made up in increased revenue through tho railways an! Customs.
