(pee press association) Inquest on a Prisoner. New Plymouth, Oct 2. The inquest on Edward Boitman, who dropped dead on the way from gaol yesterday was held to-day, and a verdict of death from natural causes, accelerated by alcoholism was returned. The Coroner and jury expressed satisfaction at the measures taken by the police in treating the man while in the loek-up on the previous night. Cooks and Stewards Union. Wellington, This Day. The dispute between the Union S. S. Company and the Cooks and Stewards Union has been settled amicably as the result of the Conference, and wms to-day withdrawn from the jurisdiction of the Conciliation Board.
Volunteer Rifles. Wellington, This Day. All Volunteer corps in the colony are armed with Lee-Enfield magazine rifles.
