SERIOUS ACCIDENT NEAR HOKITIKA.
A serious accident occurred at Lake Mahinapua yesterday morning, when two daughters of Mr Jas. Renton were seriously burnt. It appears that the young ladies were staying at a house at the Lake, and in lighting tho fire were pouring out benzine from a large tin, with the result that an explosion occurred. They were considerably burnt about the face and arms. Mr J. M’lntosh, who was up at the lake heard their screams, and on arriving burst the door in and found the place in flames and the two young ladies oadly burned. Mo removed the sufferers, hurriedly extinguished the flames, and immediately started with Mr W. Henderson for tho town bringing the Misses Renton foe medical attendance arriving here abou: 11 o’clock. They were immediately taken to Dr. Tcichclmann’s surgery where they are at present being attended to.
