There is beautiful weather and a large attendance at the opening of the spring meeting, and the course in first-class order. The following are the results before going to press :
Spring Handicap*—Tukapa 1, St. Lyra 2, Toa 3. Won easily by three-quarters of a length. Time, 22 2-5 ; div., £7 2s and Ids fid.
Trial Hack Flat—Jemima 1, Reclaimer 2, Flying Sheel 3, Won by three lengths. Time, 118 2-5; divs., £3 9s fid and £l4 19s.
