MR. PHILIP NEWBURY AND "THOSE HANG DOGS.”
{To the Editor-)
Sin, —Mr Newbury is without doubt a magnificent singer and w r c all enj yed Ins performance, but he showed a lack ot taste last evening when he so far forgot his dignity as to address that portion of bis audience who occupied the back seats as “ those hang dogs.” The behaviour of “those hang dogs” was, with the exception of that of two louts in one corner, quite as orderly and appreciative as that of the rest of the audience, and I believe I am voicing the feelings of all “ those hang dogs ” and of others when I say that Mr. Newdrary’s remark was insulting and uncalled for. He should remember that a gentleman never forgets himself even in the presence of “hang dogs.” I am, etc.. One of the Audience.
