M‘KINLEY’S ASSASSIN.

He confesses he planned the deed unaided. -

Found guilty of Murder.

[per PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT.]

Washington, September 25. Czolgosz maintains an air of unconcern. The evidence given is that the prisoner while in gaol, in the presence of several witnesses, deliberately and unhesitatingly confessed that he had dogged the President for days, seeking an opportunity to shoot him.

He believed in no form of Government or marriage relations. Every head of a State 'was a tyrant and ought to be killed. Goldman’s teachings had influenced him, but he alone planned the deed and accepted the responsibility. Lewis, one of the counsel for the defence, declared that the prisoner steadfastly refused to aid them, and was entitled to any doubt. If the jury was able to declare that he was an irresponsible person it would lift from the public mind a great load. The jury returned a verdict of murder in the first degree.

The prisoner was remanded till Thurs' day for sentence. Miss Goldman was discharged.

After all Lewis informed the Press that he refrained from calling witnesses as to insanity because alienists were prepared to testify that Czolgosy was sane.
