' London, September 23. The official report says that General Williams captured 55 Boers, being the bulk of the command westward of Edcnburg and all Koch’s transports. Kruitzingcr, in unsuccessfully attempting to cross the Orange to Hcrsche], rushed Lovatt’s Scouts’ camp. The casualties were heavy, including Colonel Hon. Andrew Murray, and Captain Murray, his adjutant, killed. The Boers under cover of the darkness carried off a gun, which was re-captured after a smart engagement, Kruitzinger losing two killed and 20 prisoners. Colonel Benson captured Carolina's commando 45 miles south-east of Carolina and took 54 prisoners, including P. J. Botha.
A Eeuter’s despatch states that Botha is approaching Zululand, intending to invade Natal.
The farmers are actually helping them and concealing their movements. General Methuen captured 23 Boers at Marieo.
General Tucker reports the approximate casualties at Vhikfon’ein on the 12th: -Company of Mounted Infantry— Seven wounded, 3 officers and 50 men missing; Eoyal Horse Artillery—Two killed, 6 wounded, 10 missing ; Bedford Mounted —Four killed, 4 wounded, 2 officers and 21 men missing. Of the missing 4 officers and 95 men were released into Basutoland. The wounded were brought to the waterworks The pursuing columns arc in touch with the enemy at Dewetsdorp.
Sir Alfred Milner, in an official despatch from JohanncMburg, states that General French is ulihsiug the blockhouses from Vryburg to Aliwal North along the railway in a definite line, where ho will push the invaders, whom Lord Lyttelton is after with a large force near Buffalo Eivepj which is swollen.
The Hauge, September 23. The Dutch speech from the throne is silent on the subject of South Africa.
The Boers in Holland are equally disappointed. The Czar and President Loubet did not discuss the question at their meeting,
