TECHNICAL INSTRUCTION.

The Grey Education Board is in re* ceipt of the following letter from Mr. Edmund Isaac, Organising Inspector Of Manual and Technical Instruction “As already intimated to you in my wire I can commence work, if your Board so desires, on Wednesday next. My programme would be as follows: Wednesday 2.30 Modelling „ 7.30 Thursday 9.80 Paper folding „ 2.30 Paper mounting Friday 9.30 Cardboard modelling ii 2.30 „ _ jt Saturday 9.30 Brush drawing and any other subjects that may be of interest to teachers in your district. “The Westland Board have used a part of the special departmental grant made some time ago for the training of teachers in “ hand work," paying coach fares of teachers and in some instances board, while they were attending the lectures. Probably your Board could work on similar lines. It would also be advisable to ask the chairman of the various committees to close the schools under their charge to afford all the teachers an opportunity of attending. We have had (thanks to the generosity of the Westland Board) a large gathering here of nearly 50 teachers, and much enthusiasm and earnestness have been evinced in the work, and good work done, and I am looking forward to similar results in the Grey District.”

The Grey Board, though the notice is short, have made the necessary arrangements, and asked the various school committees to close on the days in question to enable teachers to attend. The Board has also arranged for teachers' travelling expenses.
