MATTERS MUNICIPAL.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,— Once again I desire to write you on the subject of municipilization of native leases. This time it Is in a note of triumph. It is indeed gratifying to know that the Borough Council are so alive to their constituents interests that they intend to call them together to fully discuss this important question. There can be no doubt as to the result of the meeting. The ratepayers will individually be very pleased and gratified to the direct tenants of the Borough and the Council, by obtaining the lease in perpetuity will be doing a great good for the future of the town. It is almost a pity it was not done years ago, but fortunately the urgency of the case has not been brought home to us till within the last few months and we see what might happen when a lease falls in and is put up for fresh tender. The Council deserve the thanks of the ratepayers for so fully going into this question and it is to be hoped the burgesses'will not forget this. Let our motto he “ The town for the taxpayers ” and each and all do our best to further the resolutions passed at the council meeting regarding the native lease question.—l am &c.
Zatob.
