•——0:0— — [pEB PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT.] Received this day at 9 35 a. m. London, September 19. The Boers’ recent attack on Belfast was intended to capture supplies. A similar raid is expected on Natal. Forty Hussars and Imperial Bushmen, while pursuing twenty Boers, were suddenly surrounded by 300 outside Klerksdorf. A sharp fight at close quarters ensued. Two British were wounded, and six Boers killed and a dozen wounded. There are 2000 Boer prisoners at Durban about to he shipped. Some of them will be sent to India.
Scheeper’s commando has entered Barrydale. Colonel Crabbe is closely pursuing: London, September 19. Heavy rains have suspended operations in Southern Cape Colony hooding the river beds which often constitute the only passes of the mountains. Despite the hardships the columns keep in touch with the Boers.
The Natal Mounted Bides and Field Artillery have been called out.
