IN MEMORIAM.
Of John Balemi who died at Stillwater June 4th, 1901. Aged 23. In the vale of Stillwater, our Jack’s at rest, Called away in the bloom of life. In the summer of manhood God deemed it best To release him, from earthly strife. We have laid you to rest on the hill, son ; Where the stately old pine trees wave ; Where the beautiful song birds love to hover And the sweet zephyr’s fan thy grave. We have planted sweet flowers around thy tomb,. The Pansy and Violet blue ; The Pansy’s kind thoughts, and Violet’s bloom, Mourns a lost love, tender and true. This life is a transient empty dream you know, Full of sorrow and vain regrets ; We come and go, as the tides ebb and flow, And time our existence forgets. We must not grieve for those dear ones gone before, To that world of peaceful delight ; ‘Tis but for a time, perhaps a few years move ; Till love severed cords reunite. Amid the vernal glades, of sweet Bcnlah Land, With the Saints in yonder bright shore, By the pearly gates on that glittering strand We shall meet to part nevermore, Mrs. David Duncan, Blackwater, Little Grey. Inserted by his sorrowing parents and sisters and brothers.
