OUR KUMARA LETTER.

(our own correspondent.)

The social to Troopers "Morgan and Yocasivitch came off last night at the Adel phi Theatre and was very largely attended, Prior to its opening the troopers were entertained, by the members of the Borough Council at the Theatre Eoyal. Here a most enjoyable time was spent and eventually flic company rdjourned t) the Adelphi where the social proper was held. Under the able management of a strong energetic committe of ladies the preparations had been brought to such a pitch of perfection as to make a s ’.ccessful issue to the nights amusement a foregone conclusion. Dancing was kept up to a late hour. The monotony of continued dancing was broken by several songs and dancing intersperced throughout the evening. A splendid spread was laid contrary to the usual custom in such cases on the stage and was highly appreciated. The decorations of the Hall to bo appreciated had to be seen, In a word this social fully realised the expectations of its most ardent votaries. The Greenstone Three Mile dredge will be laid up for repairs for a week. The lower tumbler went to pieces early yesterdays morning and it will be a fendays before the new one arrives. It left Dunedin last Saturday but there will be a delay in Greymouth to allow for a shaft being put in by the Dispatch Foundry. The return for last week from this dredge is not officially known here and rumour is the only source whence one can gleam any knowledge. The dredgemaster of this dredge does not want a local director, and so the. matter is sot at rest. The tail wags the dog:—[The actual return was 31ozs 2dwts for 110 hours,] In all probability the Greenstone Junction will get a fresh start about Wednesday next. The delay is the result of having to send to Wellington for the bar steel required. Rumour connects the name of a wellknown Kumara business man with a call to the Legislative Council. I give it for what it is worth.

The annual meeting of the Tennis Club was held at the Young Mens’ Club rooms last night at 8 pm, Mr T. Y. Byrne occupied the chair, there being a good attendance of members present, The balance-sheet for the year disclosed ‘ is financial position that was a decided improvement on previous ones. The management committee recorded their thanks to Mr Lawlor, for the present of a net to the Club, and to the Bev. J. li. Clark for his attention to the court. A social was suggested as a fittingopening to the season but the holding of this was left to the Committee to decide. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Foot for his services as secretary. The same committee was elected with the addition of Mr Sinclair. Mr T. V. , Byrne was elected President.

long since as an internal medicament. T 1 tse crude oil, or so-called Eucalypti Extracts, are discernible :

1. By their deficiency in pungent odor (which our product, the only genuine Euoa lypti Extract, develops most freely throijgh ts surplus oxygen.) 2. By their alcoholic, thin, and mobile appearance, being reduced to specific density through the presence of acids. 3. By their taste, the result of contract ing tendency of resins and tanats. If these crude oils, or so-called Eucalypti Extracts, arc applied by mistake in cases of croup, bronchitis, diptheria, internal inflammation, dysentry, etc., the consequences arc most appalling. For safety’s sake ask always or Sander and Sons’ Eucalypti Extract.— Sandhurst, Victoria, Australia.—SANDEß & SONS.
