London, September 8. The Board of Trade returns for August show that imports decreased £1,159,919 and exports by £779,054. Kauri stocks are 1,380 cases.
At the sheepskin sales there was a strong competition, and the bulk were sold. ° Merinos fetched 7|d; crossbreds 5 per cent above July rates. Canterbury and North Island mutton has risen one-sixteenth of a penny.
Biverplate has risen one farthing. New Zealand ox fores advanced threesixteenths of a penny ; rest are unaltered.
