The New South Wales Loan. Received this day, at 9 35 a m. Sydney, Sept. 7. The Premier states that the loan which is to coat £3 8s 9d per cent, would cost £3 10s per cent locally, and so large an amount would have to be disturbed on the market. Influenza at Port Pirie. Adelaide, Sept. 7. There is a heavy mortality amongst children at Port Pirie from a disease resembling Russian influenza. The schools have been closed. Wellington Ferry Boat. Sydney. Sep. 7. Tne Loyalty, an ex-French gunboat at Noumea, lying at Sydney for some time, has been purchased by the Miramar Ferry Co., of Wellington. Interstate Shipping. Melbouenb, Sept 7. The Senate amended the clause in the Customs Bill, dealing with ships stores. The clause now provides that unless goods are entered for Home consumption or as prescribed, this shall only be used by passengers and crew for service on the ship after the departure from the last port of departure in the Commonwealth. Coal Duty. Sydney, This Day.

A-trouble has arisen between the Harbor Trust and gas companies owing to the Trust imposing a duty of sixpence per ton on coal. The Australian Gaslight Company refused to pay on the ground that the Trust is exceeding the powers under the Act. The company threatened to stop the gas supply, when the Trust refused to allow them to land coal. The company then obtained an injunction preventing interference till Tuesday, when the case will be argued.
