Wellington, This Day. At Wairoa a shooting affair took place last evening,' C. Maxwell at ’5 30 went to Hewitt’s Hotel to see his wife there, who was ill. T- Hewitt, junior, endeavoured to stop him from entering the wife’s room, when Maxwell drew a revolver and fired at him, the bullet entering the lower part of the thigh and passing clean through. The injured man K' down a fire escape. Maxwell was ged in gjiol, and brought up at Court this morning charged with wounding with intent. He was remanded. The injured man is progressing. Bail was allowed of £4OO.
