GOLD DREDGING.
The Reeves Proprietary dredge, which sunk while at work on her claim and was subsequently re-floated, is expected to resume work in a day or two.
The Old Diggings dredge had to stop work last week on account of the flood. It is expected that a wash up will take place on Saturday. Ford’s Creek dredge is working very steadily and will wash up on Saturday, but the result is not expected to be a very heavy one.
A meeting of the shareholders in the Britannia No. 2 Company was held at Westport on Saturday night. The name of the Company was changed to the Stoney Creek Quartz; Mining Company, Limited. The capital was fixed at 12,000 shares of £1 each. The whole of the shares were subsequently in the room, and the utmost enthusiasm prevailed. The Westport News understands the prospects of the Company are extremely good, a large quantity of payable quartz being in sight.
