Grey Live Stock Report

Messrs G. W.‘ Moss and Co. report yesterday’s stock sales at Preston yards as follow :

The entry consisted of 50 prime bhllocks ex-ship, 54 prime heavy weight bullocks from the Grey Valley district, 440 sheep ex-ship, 100 from Grey Valley district. The entry was far in excess of the demand, a number of cattle and sheep being unsold. We sold the following stock:—

Fat Cattle —On account of Mr E. Fraser, 54 prime quality bullocks from £l2 to £8 10s, averaging £lO.

Fat Sheep—On account of Mr John M’Gregor, 180 prime wethers, 19s 9d to 20s 3d. On account of Mr B. Fraser, 20 wethers, 17s; 70 ewes (stores), 10s.

Mark Sprot and Co. report their sale at Preston road yesterday : The entry of beef consisted of 54 local and 50 Foxton bullocks, all the prime quality. Buyers were not prepared to give rates on a par with outside markets and a portion of the entry wes unsold. About 400 sheep were entered, which fetched late rates. We sold on account of Messrs Abraham and Williams, 32 bullocks from £ll to £10; 9 heifers from £9 12s 6d; 80 wethers at 21s 6d.
