A statement is published that the Greymouth Point Elizabeth Coal and Baiiway Company's property has been placed under offer to the Government in connection with the seheme for a State coal mine. This Day. It is the Government will Bhortly work as a State colliery the West-port-Cardiff mine, which the Crown resumed a short time ago.

Wellington, This Day. Several properties including the Westport Cardiff mine have been placed under offer to the Government for the purposes of a State coal mine, but the probabilities are the Greymouth Point Elizabeth coal and railway companies property and Brunner mine will be secured. Messrs Hales and Coom have just finished inspecting the Company's mine property, which consists of about 4700 acres.
McKay, Government geologist, and Gordon have been instructed to report to Government on the cave area in the Westport-Cardiff lease, and Coal Creek, as to the suitability for the purpose of a public supply of coal.
