MEDALS FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN.

(To the ~Editor.)

Sib,—-I saw by your Monday's issue a paragraph signed '-Resident", asking why the children attending the Oobden school have not received their medals, like the children of other districts; also accusing the Committee of being too slow. Now sir, I do not know where the slowness comes in, the Committee have not yet received the medals. I made it my business to a«k the Secretary of the Eduoation Board last Saturday why the medals had not been sent over to the Committee, and he told me that he had given them to the Secretary of the Oobden School Committee four or five weeks back. On inquiring from the Secretary of the Oommittee I find out that he received them and gave them to the.head teacher directly he got them What raaaon the head teacher has for no; giving them to the children Ido not know. As for being afraid of holding our meetings, we have held tlu-ui regular with the exception of the last one, when two members and myself were present, the meeting collapsed for want of a quorum. The resident might ba so kind as to Bupply the boxing-gloves himself, and save the Education Board the expense. Sorry for trespassing on your valuable space. lam etc.— Jambs Poultbr, Chairman Oobden School Committee. Cobdon, August 26th, 1801.
