POULTRY, PIGEON, BIRD AND DOG SOCIETY.
A meeting of gentlemen interested m the formation of the above Society was held at the Albion Hotel last evening about 20 members being present. Mr J, G. Thomas was voted to the chair, and explained what the meeting was called for. He stated that with proper management and a good working committee, there should be a real good society, and he was pleased to see so many bird fanciers present.
It was unanimously agreed to form a Poultry, Pigeon, Bird, and Dog Society. The following officers were elected:—
President—J. G. Thomas. Vice-Presidents—-Messrs G. S. Smith, F. H. Kilgour, and Sneddon (Blackball.) Secretary—J. Caifney. Committee of Management—Messrs H. W. Kitchingham, E. Thomas, W. Walton, L. Bell, H. James, J. George, A. Fr&zer, F. Kirwin and J. W. Easson.
The Secretary, Messrs Kitchingham and M. M'Carthy were appointed a subcommittee to draw up rules, and submit same to a general meeting. Mr George stated that he had received word from Mr Evans, of Hokitika, offering to let the Society have the use of their cages, etc., for their first show, and would render them all the assistance they could.
A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
