The Waibi monthly return was £38,449 worth of gold from 12,415 tons, the largest on record.
Committed for Trial. Wellington This Day. Edward Wilson who escaped from Point Halswell prison gang recently and was recaptured after he bad attacked Constable Glass with a tomahawk was before the Magistrates Court to-day charged with gaol breaking, theft of clothes and assault. The Prisoner was committed for trial. Builders Conference. The Builders and contractors conference opened this morning, A Johnston of Wellington (President) in chair. It was decided to go through the Factories Bill in order to give evidence beforr the Labour Bills Committee also to protest against builders and contractors, workshops being included in the Factories Act seeing they are under other laws.
