THE RICARDO LIBEL CASE.

Yerdiot for Plaintiff. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT.] Brisbane, August 22. Intense interest was manifested in the Ricardo case. The court was densely crowded throughout the seven days’ trial. The counsels’ and judge’s addresses occupied sever hours. The Judge summed up strongly in favor of Ricardo. He said that on every other occasion throughout the campaign Ricardo had shown great bravery, and he was not likely to have shown the “ white feather ” when stuck in the fence. The weight of evidence was against his having uttered the words attributed to him on that occasion.

The jury, after four hours’ retirement, returned a verdict for plaintiff, awarding him £SOO damages with costs.
