Female Franchise. Sydney, August 22. In the Assembly the Woman’s Franchise Bill was read a third time by 56 against 18. Tram Bobbers’ Reward. Melbourne, August 22. The Government have offered £2OO reward and the Tramway Coy £IOO for the capture of robbers. Old Age Pensions. Received this day at 9 58 a m. Sydney, Aug. 28. About twenty-five thousand claims has been received for Old Age Pensions. Upwards of fourteen thousand have already been granted. Sword Fish Pierces a Schooner. The schooner Rotnma arrived, leaking caused by the sword of a sword fish penetrating the timber. South Australian Bndget. ADELAIDE, Aug. 28. In the Assembly the Premier delivered his Budget speech. The revenue for last year was £2,824,000 and the expenditure £2,846,000 leaving a deficit of £16,859. The revenue for the current year is estimated at £2.585,000, including £612.000 to be returned by the Commonwealth, and expenditure £2,579,000. It is expected that the year will end with a surplus of a little over £6,000. Rough Weather. Received this day at 10 a.m. Sydney, This Day. Arriving vessels report very rough weather. South Australian Affairs. Adelaide, This Day. In the Budget the Treasurer considered it safe to look for seven bushels per acre for the harvest. During the last four years there has been a steady increase in the producing sources, and but for the war and Royal visit expenditure there would have been a large surplus. He expressed a fear that Federation would prove much more expensive than was anticipated.
