THE WANT OF COAL.

In New Zealand at the present time and apparently for the future, coal is, and will be, “a very marketable commodity.” In point of fact the demand exceeds the supply. In many towns there has for over twelve months past been something like a coal famine,

and prices have ranged high. So much so that the Government have been compelled to take the matter in hand, as will be seen by article in another part of this issue. Investments in Coal Companies should, therefore, be sound and lucrative. The handsome dividends paid by she Westport Coal Company is evidence of this fact. At the present time investors in this district are offered a chance in coal mining the Tyneside Colliery Company. A perusal of the prospectus in another column of our paper will give all the required information upon the subject, where ample testimony is also given as to the excellence and extent of the coal. The capital is a small one, namely £IO,OOO, but this is held to be ample for all requirements. We have no hesitation in recommending our friends to invest, and ’tis to bo hoped the bulk of the shares will be held locally. “ Read the prospects and reports, study the position coal now occupies in the New Zealand market, and few having spare cash will hesitate about investing,” was the remark of one who has a fair knowledge of the industry and who intends putting a few hundreds into the concern.
