GOLD DREDGING.

Th* Waiho Sluicing Claim was to .’have started work again,.twelve men having been put on and they were instructed rto commence work last Monday. Kohinoob . Extended— A largely at•'tended meeting of" shareholders was held ;at the Company’s office, Hokitika, yesterday afternoon (Mr Andrew Stevenson bei ing in the chair). It was decided that the •• company should be voluntarily wound up, prospecting having proved the ground not to be payable for dredging. Mr Alex King was appointed liquidator. The Obey River dredge is again on bottom at 25 feet. The rise in the river,

however, compelled the machine to stod work last night. They should get a start to-night or to-morrow morning. Greenstone Three Mile— Up to last night all the Coast dredges with one exception had reported the result of last weeks’ washing. That exception is the Greenstone Three Mile. The return went ito Dunedin on Saturday at 12.30 p.m. by turgent wire, and wo are yet without any •official notification as to the result. The ••secretary had promised by letter to for* •ward it immediately on receipt, but it is not yet to hand. In the absence of official knowledge, one has often to fall back on rumour. It has come to that now. The man in the »lml tells me (writes our Kumara eoxtespondeui) that the above dredge's tototn ter last, week was 86ozs l&iwi*. I tollable lutetmation that the fvtogotog is approximatoly correct- I feam tMI the dredge was stopped pari weariy every day daring the week, otherwise the return would have been enhanced considerably. The Greenstone Ck.sek is idle, awaiting a sot of piston rings far the engine. These should arrive this evening. In the .meantime other repairs are being effected
