PERRY’S REWARD COMPANY.

On the West Coast wo have often complained of the difficulty in obtaining returns from the Dunedin controlled claims, but apparently there are claims where the directors reside on the West Coast where “ secrecy ” is deemed dep'ornadc. A writer in the Christchurch Press last week says a letter appeared in your paper recently over the signature of D. L. Inwood, who informed the shareholders that despite unfavourable opinions of the claim in some quarters, it was nevertheless a good one. Since that letter appeared the dredge has csmraenced work, and according to your raining correspondent has washed up three times, but the returns have not been made public.

Considering the dredge has been working for about six weeks, I think it-is time the dircc.ers on tho Coast let the shareholder.-! know something of what is going on. Mr Phillip Perry (after whom the company is called) is one of the directors and is identical, I think, with tho gentlemen who recently visited Christ iiurch to try to get the office of the C .mmissioner’s Flat Company removed to Hokitika, and instanced tho Perry’s Reward Company as an example of their splendid management. , It is all very well for the Perry s Reward directors to boast about only having had nee ssity to call up 16s per share ou 9000 shares, but shareholders must bear in m ud a second-hand dredge is working the claim, which cost the company £3500, and even then it, does not say much for the management, if it cost another £3700 for removal, pontoons, boring, and official and office expenses. If the directors are going to “ reward ” shareholders (whose patience is being sorely taxed) by withholding information which they are entitled to have, then I think the name of the company should be altered.
