Wellington, July 30, The Eegistrar-General (Mr Von Dadelsven) has supplied the following information for publication:
The largest boroughs in the colony are the following, in their order according to numbers of population : Wellington 43,586 Auckland 34,219 Dunedin ... ... 24,886 Christchurch. ... ... 17,537 Napier 8,775 Wanganui 7,331 Nelson 7,009 Palmerston North ... 6,514 Timaru 6,421 Invercargill ... ... 6,213 But the inclusion of the suburbs places the position of the five chief towns as follows : Greater Auckland ... 67,232 Greater Christchurch... 57,037 Greater Dunedin ... 52,398 Greater Wellington ... 49,292 Greater Invercargill ... 10,629
In other cases we do not recognise suburbs in dealing with figures affecting the population.
