BLACKBALL NOTES.
(DUE OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
The banquet and social, to be tendered to Trooper J. H. Critohley, at Blackball this evening according; to preparations made and the number being catered for, should bo a huge success. Rumour has it that an opposition carrier is about to enter iho arena in the carrying trade between Ngahero and Blackball. Mr Critchley the returned trooper was entertained 1 st evening, by Mr Joseph Scott Manager of the Blackball Coal Go. A number of tho ladies and gentlemen of Mgahere were also present, and all passed a most sociable and enjoyable time.
The attendance at the Blackball school this week is a record one. Never before during the seven years this school has been open has the attendance been less than half. Trio school premises requires draining and clearing. All the teachers as well as children, have suffered more this year from sickness than ever before, in fact, the largo majority of those now attending are unfit to do their work through ijlnoss,
