GREYMOUTH JOCKEY CLUB.

The regular meeting of the Committee of the Greymouth Jockey Club was held last evening -.at the Albion Hotel. Present: Messrs Petrie (chair), Walton, Sheedy, Gieseking, M'Carthy, Hannan, Yarrall and Smith. Mr Walton proposed Mr Petrie as chairman fol* the ensuing year. Mr Sheedy seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously, this _ being Mr Petrie’s third year in the chair. The following officers for the ensuing year were then elected Treasurer—Mr A. W. Yarrall. Clerk of the Scales—Mr W. R. Kettle.

Timekeeper—Mr H. Kitchingham. Course Committee—Messrs Sheedy, Gieseking, Claughsey, Blair and Bon sonby. Clerk of the Course —Mr R. Clough. Starter—Mr Charles O’Connor (Christchurch).

Handicapper —Mr J. Walton. Programme Committee—Messrs Petrie, M‘Kay, Claughsey, Walton and the Secretary. Stewards—Messrs Yarrall, Petrie, Gies. king. Sheedy, M‘Kay, Hannan, and Blair.

The usual subscription of five guineas was voted to the Turf Register.

Applications for relief from -the trainers’ and jockeys’ funds were made on behalf of C. E. McConkey, of Reefton, and W. H. Fergus, of Nelson. A vote of £lO was granted to the former, who is a married man with a family, and £5 to the latter. It was further resolved to ask the Nelson Club for a statement of their Distressed Trainers and Jockeys fund. The Chairman gave a resume of the proceedings of the Racing Conference, and the results of their deliberations, the most interesting features of which were the securing of two votes for the Greymouth Metropolitan Club, and the right of Kumara to the days selected by that club.

Mr Sheedy moved a hearty vote of thanks to the chairman for the admirable way in which he fought for the interests of the Club in every way, and added that they could not ba better represented or their wishes better farthered. Mr Smith seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously. Mr Petrie returned thanks, and spoke in high terms of the assistance of .his colleague, Mr Hood Williams.
